The Process
Honey Extraction
I extract my honey by hand and its the best part! I cut the honey out of the frame into the bucket above. From there I crush it up to make a honeycomb soup.
Filtering
My honey is 100% raw I only filter it through the double sieve you see above. I do not heat my honey in any way as it can affect the taste.
Jars of Sunshine
I love this part. Nothing makes me prouder than seeing the end result. Beelotted honey is fragrant and light but it does crystallise. Crystallisation is a sign of the honeys quality.
Wax Extraction
Once the honey has been drained and filtered. I then wrap up all thats left from the frames in muslin cloth to be boiled.
Boiling
The boiled mixture smells amazing. Once cooled you are left with a lovely smelling wax lump.
Filtering
Now I have a wax lump that needs further filtering. I simply break bits off and broil them. Once melted I pour through a few layers of muslin fabric and leave to cool in smaller more manageable mould.
